Supporting Access to Holistic, Life-Saving Healthcare

With your support, we have provided essential assistance to those facing chronic illness in lower-income countries, covering treatment costs and supporting health-related wellbeing and prevention. Together, we honour Sonal’s legacy of care, strength and generosity by helping people receive the holistic healthcare they need and deserve.

As of March 2026, we have overachieved all our targets and are now bringing this fund to a successful close. We will continue to honour Sonal’s legacy in different ways in the future. These results were made possible because of people like you and your thoughtful contributions.

How Your Donations Are Making a Difference

CHF9,293 (₹9 Lakhs)

We partially funded chemotherapy/radiotherapy sessions for four middle-aged women seeking treatment at Tata Medical Center in Kolkata. These women come from households with an annual income below CHF1,100. Some of these women travel over nine hours for their treatments at the hospital. Tata Medical also provides affordable housing for these women during their treatments. We have received updates that all the women are doing well and making good progress in their care.

Financial Support for Lymphoma Patients in the Philippines

CHF3106

The funds were allocated through a collaboration between Lymphoma Philippines and SheHeals to provide financial assistance to Filipino lymphoma patients for medical needs and daily living expenses. Beneficiaries received support of approximately CHF90–200 each, with priority given to women patients living in provincial areas.

Eligibility criteria and the application process were developed by Lymphoma Philippines with final confirmation from the SheHeals. The initiative was launched in the Lymphoma Philippines Facebook group on November 30, with applications accepted until December 15, followed by a shortlisting period from December 16–20 and the start of fund awarding on December 21.

CHF5,168 (₹5 Lakhs)

We supported the Sanjeevani… Life Beyond Cancer Organization. ₹3 Lakhs was used to launch their Can Ahaar Nutritional Program at Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital in Kolkata, directly supporting the nutritional needs of 30 cancer patients throughout their treatment. Appropriate nutrition plays a fundamental role in cancer recovery and overall wellbeing, and nutritious food options are often overlooked by low-income patients as capacity is focused on other cancer related costs (e.g. treatment and medications). Additionally, ₹2 lakhs rupees were allocated to staffing needs at Sanjeevani's new campus, furthering their mission to offer accessible, holistic care to 100+ low-income patients a day who are battling cancer.

Breast Cancer Screening Camps in India

CHF1,352

The funds are allocated to Niramai, to support five breast cancer screening camps conducted with Don Bosco Development Society in the Tadiwala Road slum area of Pune, India, being one of the city’s most densely populated informal settlements. The initiative aims to bring accessible breast cancer screening directly to 150–200 low-income women who otherwise have very limited access to early detection services. Using Niramai’s thermal screening technology, the camps will help identify potential suspect cases and facilitate timely referrals for further medical evaluation and care.

CHF1,043 (₹1 Lakh)

₹1 lakh rupees was allocated to Parasdham’s Social Impact pillar run by the Arham Yuva Seva Group. These funds were used to sponsor a range of medical services for low-income communities such as cataract surgeries, dialysis treatments and free medical camps.

CHF4,659

The funds have been allocated to Faraja Cancer Support Trust support Immunohistochemistry (IHC) testing for breast cancer patients who could not afford this essential diagnostic test in Kenya. Many women in public hospitals are required to pay privately for IHC testing, creating a significant financial barrier that delays treatment. By funding these tests (approximately $50 per patient), patients are able to identify key tumour biomarkers that guide the most effective treatment options, including hormone therapy, chemotherapy, or targeted therapy. This support will help to reduce long waiting times of up to 8–16 weeks, enabling women to start timely, personalised cancer treatment and improve their chances of better outcomes.

Funds Under Allocation

CHF7,262

The funds are currently in the process of being allocated, with a focus on supporting care for children battling cancer.

Support for Families Facing Chronic Illness Emergencies

CHF5,000

The funds will be allocated to support individual families identified as facing urgent medical emergencies. Many low-income households are forced to sell assets or exhaust their savings to cover medical costs, which often pushes them deeper into poverty. By providing targeted financial assistance, we aim to ensure timely access to necessary care while helping families avoid this cycle of financial hardship. By providing targeted financial assistance, we aim to ensure timely access to necessary medical services.
